The Prophetic Word
PNY-005"The Prophetic Word" was composed for the NAGSDA Youth Collegiate & Young Professionals Conference 2016. Featuring voice, violin, and piano, the piece is a musical meditation on the reliability of Scripture — that the prophetic word is 'a light shining in a dark place'.
2 Peter 1:19 — "We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place"
Adapted from 2 Peter 1:16-21, where Peter affirms that the prophetic word did not come by human will but by the Holy Spirit.
The Eb major key gives this a rich, full sound. The violin adds an element of beauty and longing. Tempo at 100 BPM should feel purposeful. The voice part carries the scriptural text — enunciate clearly.
